Start with the city—not a social-media route

A scenic route is only useful if every segment is legal for the cart and permit you have. Municipal maps, registration packets, and police guidance should be the first source for current route planning.

Speed limits, road designations, construction, and local rules can change. Recheck the official source before each trip instead of relying on an old saved route.

Orange Beach and Gulf Shores are separate systems

Orange Beach requires permitted carts to stay on designated cart streets or multi-use cart paths. Gulf Shores also limits registered carts to designated streets and uses an annual registration process.

Crossing a city boundary can change the rules that apply. If a route touches both jurisdictions, verify each portion with the appropriate city before leaving.

A safer pre-ride checklist

Check the permit, insurance, required equipment, lights, brakes, turn signals, tires, charge or fuel level, weather, passenger capacity, and current city route guidance. A street-ready equipment package does not by itself authorize operation on every road.
